Eleanor & Pickles - Fight Like a Girl!

Hi Folks!

Hope you're all having a good weekend?  Seems a bit warmer here than it has been this evening...though I was freezing earlier.

Today's card is very special!  Not only is it a brand new, LIMITED EDITION digi by Heather Valentin, but it is also being sold by her as a fundraiser for cancer research for Michigan's Relay for Life - Team Fighting Spirit.  It's a US charity BUT it doesn't matter, we're all in the war against cancer together.  100% of the proceeds of this fabulous (and it IS fabulous!) digi will be going to the charity and also you could the digi to make cards, etc, for fundraising for Tickled Pink (UK's Breast Cancer Charity).  This digi is ONLY available directly from Heather Valentin at Lacy Sunshine.  Unfortunately, the freebies on the post are no longer available (as freebies), but if you keep a close eye on the blog and register as a follower you'll be able to grab the next ones when they appear.

I'd made this card for people who know someone who is going through the fight.  I'm lucky, as right now I don't, but I do know that when I believed that I had breast cancer a few years ago, I would have liked to have known support was there but didn't want a fuss.  So my idea for the card I made was to be able to add something like 'Team ******** (insert person's name) at the top, and 'Backing Your Fight', or similar, along the bottom.  I didn't do this as, daft as it seems, I didn't want to jinx anyone.  But you get the picture.  Instead I just added a few little faux gems so it didn't look bare in the picture.

Isn't the digi just beautiful?  Even little Pickle's has got his pink shorts and boxing gloves on!  Go Pickles!

As you can see, I kept this one nice and simple as I didn't want to take anything away from the digi, the message (in the digi, in a 'to be added' sentiment and in the ribbon) so my only embellies are the four tiny, silver, metal corners from Wild Orchid...bearing in mind the faux gems are there in place of some supportive sentiments just for the picture.

As with all Heather's digis, Fight Like a Girl! was lovely to colour and I used my beloved (aawwww) promarkers.  Pretty chuffed with the results as well.

As said, I wanted the card kept simple so just found some paper in my stash, did a little matting and layering (inside and out), made the special ribbon and added the corners and gems.  That's it...simples.

Really pleased with this one...hope you like it too.

Remember that this digi is a very special Limited Edition digi with all the proceeds ($3) from every digi going towards cancer research.  It is ONLY available from Heather at Lacy Sunshine.

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges:

Take care everyone & happy crafting!
