Well...haven't been such a good little blogger so far, have I?  Yoiks!  I promise to try harder.  In fact, I will make it my New Year's resolution to really start this blog - if I can work out what I'm doing, lol.

Anyway, it's been busy, busy, busy with lots of Christmas crafting.  I had thought that I'd had enough of Christmas cards but now that I've finished all those I need to do I'm finding myself wanting to make more.  I think I'm addicted.  I had been promising myself a month off before starting on them again (just a few each week to make it easier for next year) but I don't see me lasting the week out let alone the month!

Right...enough waffle.

Here are a couple of the cards I have been busy making:

This is an image from the wonderful House Mouse range.  I've coloured it in using promarkers and added some crystal glitter to create a snow settling on the grass effect.  I have used Spellbinders Labels 4 to make the base card and to cut out the mirror card.  To create a more narrow border of the gold mirror card, I have used the same sized die and drawn around the inner edge onto the white card and cut that out by hand.  I did the same with the backing paper (from Bearly Mine) as I don't like too wide a border.  The top sentiment is from Cuddly Buddly.com but I can't remember where the other sentiment stamp is from.  This card didn't need much embellishment so I have just used some card candi to match.

Now this card was very quick and easy to do.  You won't find me making many Hunkydory cards, as lovely as their materials are, but I couldn't resist this card with the adorable teddies.  This is my son's Christmas card from me and Daddy.

The teddy image was already die cut and foiled with gold, so I simply cut out a circle from the foiled tartan card in a size to match the image.  I then cut out two further circles slightly larger.  These were cut from plain white supersmooth card, but I used distressing inks to blend them in and frame the image and tartan card.  I created the base card by using the largest of the Spellbinders lacey circle dies - just score and fold the card then line up the die so that there are three loops sticking out from under the card.  This will mean that the scored line won't be cut through.  I had to run this through the cuttlebug about 4 times to make sure it was cut through thoroughly.  I then scored through the centre of the top half to turn it into an easel.

I then cut out two of the same size lacey circles from gold mirror card.  I then stuck the gold card onto the bottom circle of the card base using pinflair gel.  I find that it's easier to do the bottom circle first as the gold card will go over the edge of the fold and prevent it shutting if you don't trim it off once it is stuck in place.  Once you have trimmed off the excess you can carry on and finish it by adding the gold mirror card to the top circle and then the distressed circles and the card/image circles.  As this card is pretty decorative anyway, it didn't need anything to finish it off, just a little digi stamp sentiment from CuddlyBuddly.com.  Again, I framed this with a slightly larger distressed circle and then another frame using the Spellbinders lacey circle die in gold card.

Oh, go on then...you've twisted my arm.  I'll add another couple of cards today!

The image for this card is from Joanna Sheen's Nostalgia double CD.  There are some stunning images on there. This card was as easy as they come as the cardstock is supersmooth and gold mirror card.  I used Spellbinders labels 8 throughout for this easel, with lots of distressing with inks.  It really is that simple.  I could have added a few more embellishments but I was in a less is more kind of mood.
                                                              ************************
This 6 x 6 card was one of my favourites for this Christmas and I will be making similar ones in the future as I liked it so much.  The beautiful image is a digi stamp from CuddlyBuddly.com and was coloured using promarker pens.  Other than that, all this card consists of is some red pearlescent paper, some supersmooth card, some dark red and green mulberry paper, a metal filigree corner from Wild Orchids and a digi sentiment, again from CuddlyBuddly.com.  It is basic matting and layering with embossing of the white layers to give texture and detail.  I made the flowers with the mulberry paper using Marianne Design Creatables XL Flower dies (LR0196), and a leaf die from another die set.  They were fixed together with gold brads and scrunched up.  The other dies used are Spellbinders lacey circles and scalloped circles and circles.  The inside was decorated to match minus the flowers, actual image (though the dies were used to adorn the verse), sentiment and filigree corner.
