Eleanor & Pickles Mammoth Ride Card.

Hi Folks!

Hope you're all having a good weekend?

Busy, busy, busy here as usual, but I've just made a card  out of the digi I coloured the other day, which is Eleanor & Pickles - Mammoth Ride.   This fab digi is by Heather Valentin and is ONLY available from her Lacy Sunshine store for just $3.  Wow...an absolute bargain!

I did make this first using gold filigree corners because of Eleanor's hair, but they're far too rich a gold and clashed with the pink so I used silver instead which works much better.  I need to find corners which are much less yellow...that would be good.

This is unusual for me as it's an 8 x 8 card base and I usually like my 6 x 6 ones, but I found some lovely scalloped edged ones so will be doing more in this size as it will enable me to get more detail into Heather's digis...and I do like my scalloped edges.  :oD

As usual, it's coloured using my promarkers and I've used Supersmooth card for this one, though now I've tried it, I find watercolour card better.  Need to source some nice, white watercolour card so if anyone knows of a good one please let me know...thanks.

The filigree corners are from Wild Orchid and the faux pearls and heart shaped brads are from my stash.

The backing paper is from the MCS Quintessential Country Garden cd.

The matting card is Core'dinations, but not sure which one as they're all jumbled.  I have cut it using Cheery Lynn's wonderful Reflections Boutique Mega Doily Mini Pearl Square dies, which actually come in half so you can use them to make rectangles as well as squares.  They have a very delicate and tiny scalloped edge with little pricks in as well...seriously pretty and very, very useful.

I have also used Cheery Lynn dies for the flowers.  They are the rose ones which come in a strip but I liked the look of just two stacked up and unshaped, so left them like that and fixed them together with a brad.  They're cut out of the same Core'dinations as the matting layers.

The stamp I used for the sentiment is from the Forever Friends Black & Gold set.

And that's it...today's card.  I was hoping to do something a little more spectacular with this image...but it just didn't happen today.  Never mind...maybe next time.  I'm just impressed that I made an 8 x 8 card, lol.

I'm entering this card into the following challenge:
http://artisticinspirationscrafts.blogspot.co.uk/ where the theme is 'Anything Goes.'

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Happy crafting!
xx

  4. I love the digi and your colouring of it. A really gorgeous card. If I've got corners or things that are not quite the right colour I usually try colouring over them with my ProMarkers or Letraset metalic markers. A light brown shade over bright gold embelishments tone them down a bit without taking away all the metalic shine.

  17. This image looks fabulous on your card Lexie, much better than on my wall, lol. The papers and embellishments are just perfect.
Gwyneth's suggestion is fabulous. You can also use clear ink and embossing powder to change the appearance - but the metal does get very hot x
