Hi Folks!
Hope you're all ok and that you've had a good day?
Well, today I have a couple of little announcements to make. Firstly, a few weeks before Christmas I received an email from the Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine congratulating me on being placed as a runner up in their 2012 Card Designer of the Year Competition! Woohoo!!!! I was so pleased...and even more so when I found out that Paula (my boss at the Joanna Sheen Challenge Blog) had also been placed as a runner up! In the competition there is one winner and 9 runner ups who are on an equal footing. I've put an image of the mag over on the right as a blinkie to acknowledge my pride in being placed.
At this point I'll say congratulations to the winner, Sharon Curtis, and all the other runners up who did such beautiful jobs with their cards. I'm amazed they think I'm worthy of being placed amongst such fabulous crafters. I'll add the three cards I entered in the Blog Challenge Results section...see link below my header.
Now, my second announcement is that I am now a Sunshine Girl! Me, Heather Valentin, Linda Simpson and Lou Price are setting up a dance troupe and will be touring all the town and village halls in the country doing our version of the Bluebell Girls. Well...ok...that's a lie but I couldn't resist. Really, we are Sunshine Girls but we're Heather Valentin's Sunshine Girls over at Lacy Sunshine. We are her brand, sparkly new Senior Creative Designers - how posh is that? :oD So there'll be lots more cards from me made using Heather's stunning digis and I'm so excited. I think the four of us have lots more adventures ahead of us. Right now Heather is busy creating our own personal blinkies and I've had a sneak peek at an early version of mine and can't wait to show it off once it's ready. Can I take this opportunity to wish Heather Valentin masses of luck on her brand new enterprise...I know it's going to be a huge success and she has a very enthusiastic team behind her! Good luck, Heather...and thank you for having me! xx
So, along with my little win over at Passion for Promarkers the other day, this year is looking flipping fantastic already. All I need now is a lottery win. :oD
Anyway, today I've been having a little play with another of Heather's new digis...a biggy this time! It took me hours to do as I blew it up bigger so I could give it as much detail as I could. Sorry about some of the colours again...can't work out why cameras pick out one or two colours they play around with. That awful orangy brown in the big girl's hair is actually raw sienna and looks lovely in the flesh...and the white bits in Eleanor's hair are actually pastel yellow, as I'm not brave enough to leave much white yet, lol.
I've not made it into a card yet as I didn't want to rush it and may even frame it for Jamie's wall as it's a bigger one. I'm not sure what the big girl's name is, but the digi is a new one called Eleanor & Pickles Mammoth Ride and is available only from Lacy Sunshine. Please head over and take a look, and also, why not pay the Lacy Sunshine Blog a visit and follow to keep up with the latest news and offers. Lots of exciting things will be happening in the future, including a new challenge which is coming up soon.
And here's the image:
Isn't it adorable? I've coloured it using my promarkers on Supersmooth card this time, and given Eleanor a change of hair colour because of the mammoth's colouring. Maybe next time I'll make Mrs Mammoth a blonde instead? Please ignore the gingery bits in Mrs M's hair...they are not there in real life, lol.
I'm not sure if Heather's going to come up with some more mammoths, but I do know there are some very exciting ideas in the pipeline so keep your eyes peeled and keep checking Heather's sites (links above).
Hope you all love Heather's digis as much as I do...they really are so much fun.
Take care everyone and happy crafting!
xx
