Let Them Eat Cake!

Hi Folks!

hope you're all ok and taking time to relax before New Year's Eve?  I'm having a nice quiet night in (looking after Jamie) but I will have a little drinky to celebrate.  2012 has been a really great year for me craft wise, and I have a feeling that 2013 is going to be even better.  Hope it's going to be the same for all of you as well. xx

Today I have used another Heather Valentin digi...this time it's Pickles on his own.  He's been busy baking and decorating a cake here, and, as it's pink, I reckon it's for his friend Eleanor.  Just hope he gets it to her in one piece.  Looks a little precarious to me!

First thing I'm going to say is that the little glittery gel dots on the butterfly and two of the corners are actually pink.  No idea why they don't look pink on here, but they still look fine.  If they were that colour, though, I'd have put a similary colour glitter button on the flower in the other corner.  Wondering whether a light box would help keep the colours true in photos?  Shall have to look into that.

Anyway...it's the Pickles and Cake digi which is ONLY available from Heather Valentin at Lacy Sunshine.  Please remember to make sure you only buy the real Eleanor & Pickles characters direct from Heather, their creator, as there are some nasty, tacky copies out there which might come in handy if ever Pickles is in danger and needs a dodgy 'clone' but really it's best not to encourage fraud by buying shoddy copies.  So support the artist and then she can carry on coming up with these fabulous digis for us...and believe me, Heather has loads of ideas and there will be more and more digis appearing in her online store all the time...just like the one I've used today will be appearing very soon along with some more gorgeous digis, so watch the Lacy Sunshine Blog for more news.

Right...all the backing papers I've used on this card are from Bearly Mine (link over on right) and they're so beautiful.  I really do love their papers.  I've used three different papers for this one.  The matting layer is taken from Pickles.

The flowers are from Dovecraft, the little glitter dots are from Papermania, if I remember rightly, and the glitter card button was cut with a Memory Box die and the butterfly is by Doohickey.  I used spellbinders to cut the circles and scalloped circles.  The sentiment is just a little silver foiled shop bought one as I decided it needed a nice, neat sentiment as it's a nice, neat card.  And that's it...all done and dusted.  Hope you like...

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

  2. Gorgeous card. I love it. Isn't it odd how colours sometimes appear all different in a picture or on a computer screen than they do in real life - but your card looks fine even if some of the colours appear different to intended.

  10. Beautiful card Lexie. Love the colors and the cute image. My brother in law bought us a big Chrissy cake as part of our Chtistmas gift this year. There were a number of parcels but this was the one he managed to drop. Luckily it was packaged well and just one of the decorations was squished. Your card reminds me of him. May take a look and get the image in time for his birthday. Lol!!.xx
