Ultra Lacy Easel Christmas Card.

Yo Dudes!

Hope you're all ok on this dim and dismal day?

And for those at the NEC...the rest of us are not jealous...much!  Lol.  Hope it's all going well and that everyone's having a brilliant time.  Looking forward to hearing all the gossip!

Well, I've not had a lot of time to play but I have been getting to know my Ebosser a little bit...and I love it.  I'll not do a review yet as I've not had enough time to really get to know it properly, but it's certainly going to make life easier.

I've used it for todays card which is and ultra lacy easel made using a Spellbinders die...oops...can't remember the name of the set...sorry!

I had tried to do an easel with this die before (bet you're all yelling out the name of the set at me now!) using my GC but it was always too raggedy at the back and very flimsy.

I did try to cut through the two layers of Centura Pearl (total 600gsm) but it couldn't do it at the time.  I say 'at the time' as I'm still getting used to it and may come up with a way to do so at some point soon.  BUT it did cut through two layers of 250gsm Supersmooth card AND gave a perfect cut but I did have to run it through about 5 times.  I put all this down to the dies having such shallow cutting ridges NOT the Ebosser.  After all, you can't expect it to cut through material which is deeper than the cutting ridge really, can you?

So...I had the beautifully cut double layer to form the base of the easel and then decided it would be far too flimsy, so I then cut two single layers using Centura Pearl, which not only gives a lovely pearlescent finish but also a lot more strength to the card.  I layered one of the layers onto the base of the easel and then used the other as the top part of the easel.  Does any of that make sense (scratches head)?

Anyway...I used Collall all purpose glue to layer them up and rubbed all the excess away, so both layers are stuck very neatly and firmly together and I'm left with a good, strong base.

So then I just decided what I wanted to do with the base and decided to do a card for the Crafter's Companion Challenge where the theme this month is Favourite Colour Combination.  And as my favourite colour is pink...that's what I've used.  And as I had to use a Crafter's Companion product (oh...what a hardship!  NOT!) I decided to use the Christmas at Mulberry Woods CD.  So the image, papers, sentiment and bow are from the CD.  And apart from a couple of faux pearls and some silver mirri card...that's it.

Not actually sure what I think of this card, but hey ho...it's a card and it's something slightly different and it's an experiment with my new Ebosser, so it'll do.

Shall carry on playing with the Ebosser and give a review soon.  But from what I have seen so far, it's a great bit of kit and will be very, VERY well used.  It's so easy...

Right...I'm entering this card into the following challenge:

http://ccmonthlychallenge.blogspot.co.uk/ where the theme is 'Favourite Colour Combination.'

Take care everyone.
Happy crafting!
xx

  2. Thanks Jane!

Collall all purpose glue is fantastic! I really cannot recommend it highly enough. I gave up using paper as backing paper a while ago as it always wrinkled, but that doesn't happen with Collall so I'm back to using paper instead of card now. It really is a brilliant glue.

    1. Thanks Linny.

It's well worth the wait! They take up no more room than the GC and you just switch on and away you go. Most of the plates are so thick and solid as well, which means that they're not going to warp. I should think the only one that will need replacing is the one which is cut into. Best thing is, I can't kill it (sorry CB and GC!). Lol.

    1. Thanks Kate.

You can get the glue on the JS site here:
      http://www.joannasheen.com/craft-supplies/glues-and-sticky-things/glues/allpurpose-glue-by-collall/

It really is the best I've used. It's similar to use as photo glue but dries permanently so is fantastic for cardmaking. And it doesn't crinkle up the paper. Wouldn't be without it now.

    1. Hi Annie!

Lovely to have you on board. And feel free to use any of my ideas that you find on here. I have done a couple of tutorials at the top of the page (under the header) for an open book card and also a punched edge easel card. Both are great to make and adaptable for any occasion.

      Take care
