Christmas Paintbox Poppets Card.

Hi Folks!

Hope you're all ok and crafting away like good little crafters?

Thank you so much for the support you've given me with the Joanna Sheen DT Call finals.  It's going to be such a hard decision as there are brilliant points about all the entries and there's no way I could decide between them.  I'm just so proud to have made it that far and know that I still have a lot to learn so if I don't make it this time, then there's always next time...or the time after, lol.  I just don't envy the JS team having to make this decision.  Best of luck to all the entries and those having to do the decision making.  Don't forget, the comments section will be open for a week so if you haven't done so already, please head over to here and help the team make their decision.  xx

Right, I've been all Christmassy today.  Well, there are only 3 months to go and time's flying.  I also wanted to enter Linda Simpson's very first ever blog challenge.  She's running it this week for My Craft Studio who are donating the prize for the winning entry.  The theme is simply Christmas and you can use any products you want as long as it sticks with the theme.  It's very easy to enter, all you have to do is go to Linda's blog (which is a cracker!) here and leave a comment on the blog challenge thread.  In that comment you need to leave a link to the picture of your entry so you don't even have to have a blog!!!  How easy is that?  We're all busy making Christmas cards right now, so go on...be a devil and go for it.  What have you got to lose?????

Anyhoo, here's my entry:

For this card  I've elected to use Crafters Companion's stunning Paintbox Poppets Christmas CD which features the awesome work of Christine Haworth.  This collection really is very special and really lovely to use.

I have used a 6x6 (approx) scalloped edge card for the base.

All the designing was carried out in the new Craft Artist 2 software, which I'm having great fun playing with.

The papers and elements are all from the CD.  I have used three backing papers to make my main background, by matting and layering them digitally then arranging them and grouping them together to create one actual background layer.

The great thing about CA2 is that you can cut out all the elements digitally with the greatest of ease and then put it together very realistically in the software so you know exactly how the finished card is going to look.  So that's what I did...assembled it digitally, chose the elements I wished to use, did a bit of playing around and resizing a few things and then disassembled it to layout for printing.

After printing it was just a case of cutting all the elements out (just scissors and guillotine for this one) and layering up the layout I had decided upon using foam pads, Collall all purpose glue (which is fantastic) and Pinflair gel.  And voila...all done.

This card is being entered into the following challenges:

http://lindasimpsoncraftypieceofheaven.blogspot.co.uk/ where the theme is Christmas.
http://joannasheenchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/so-sweet.html where the theme is So Sweet.

Take care everyone and happy crafting!
xx

  2. Hi Lexi - this is a fabulous card - and I completely agree about CA2... I was soooo impatient about getting it - I went for the download... its on a CD for safekeeping now though! I have loved CA since it came out - my sister is the same and rarely does a card that doesn't involve it.

Good luck with the JS DT call - and also with Linda's challenge... something I hope to enter too (when I get my finger out)!!!
