Afternoon Folks!

Today's card is a bit different to usual because it's a bloke's card.  It's very simple but effective.

I started with a white A4 sheet of card and scored and folded it in half to make an A5 landscape tent card.

The textured cardstock is from the Co-ordinations Vintage Collection. I do wish they would sell them in individual colours as well as collections.  Yes, the collections are wonderful, but if you have come up with a design which you want to replicate you have to buy the whole pack again...silly!  It is beautiful cardstock, though, and can give some stunning results.

With the darker cardstock I have used a Spellbinders Labels 8 die in the second largest and I have cut the shape out of the centre of the card.  I have then used the largest and second largest size to make a frame in the lighter card.

The fabulous image is from Joanna Sheen's Nostalgia CDs, which are a must have.  I have printed that onto white, printable canvas paper so that the colours are really vivid.  That has been stuck to the card base so that the darker card frames it.  Then the darker card was glued down using pinflair...then the frame was added.

The sentiment was from the made from a smaller section of the picture which I took into MCS to have the opacity changed so that the text would be visible.  I then added the text.  This too was printed onto the canvas paper.  I framed the sentiment by using the smallest size of the Labels 8 dies on the image and then I traced around the outside of the die onto the co-ordinations card to get a slightly larger frame, which I then cut out with scissors.

As this is a man's card I didn't want to make it too fussy.  The beautiful image and the cardstock made it special enough, so I just made a slit in the spine of the card towards the left side and threaded through a piece of black organza ribbon.  I just tied this for an unfussy bow.  All it needed then to finish off was three black faux gems in the top right corner.

The insert is the main image taken into MCS, faded with the opacity tool, sentiment typed in then printed out, again on the canvas paper.  That is matted onto a layer of the co-ordinations card to finish it off.

Simple yet effective.

Take care and have fun!

I have entered this card in the Joanna Sheen Monthly Challenge.

  2. Glad you like the card, Linda. With an image like the one I've used, the card really didn't need much more.

And I'm loving my new style blog as well. This Victorian stylee is so me and I'm thrilled to bits that I managed to find it - and work out how to use it, lol.
    Take care
